Home / about us
EMA was founded back in 1952 in Buenos Aires Argentina. Throughout the years it became one of the most important manufacturers of electromechanical equipment in Latin America supplying low, medium and high voltage apparatus to major utility companies in the region. Product innovation and continuous growth in the electrical market led EMA to expand the Latin American frontier to conquer the North American market.
The latest expansion occurred in 2010 when EMA Electromechanics started its US operation with the goal of developing and manufacturing high quality specialized electromechanical equipment for the wind generation and becoming one of the leaders within this industry.
EMA Electromechanics is the designer and manufacturer of the VDH/GSMI® combined 38 kV outdoor vacuum circuit breaker and high speed, mechanically interlocked grounding switch, a unique and patented system specifically designed for switching and grounding of wind and solar energy collection circuits.
After more than 10 year manufacturing, this state of the art, unique product EMA has tripled its original work force and has over 2500 units supplied to substations all across North and Central America.
EMA Electromechanics takes an innovative approach to business. We believe the development of clean wind energy should directly benefit the communities that take up on the challenges of the new technology and that manufacturers should be as close as possible to where their products are needed.
With the above premises in mind EMA, sets foot in Sweetwater, TX; the heart and soul of wind generation country to make it the home of the highly specialized EMA's complete line of power distribution equipment for utility and industrial markets.
Like it did almost 70 years ago EMA is still committed one hundred percent to manufacturing high quality reliable products and to excel in customer service. This recipe worked from the very beginning and we all at EMA believe it will still work for years to come.
At present, over 2,700 EMA breakers have been supplied for 415 wind and solar projects spanning 38 US States plus 7 Canadian Provinces and 6 Mexican States, with participation in more than 65,500 MW of related renewable energy capacity.
Five of the Top 10 Largest USA Wind Power Projects in operation today utilize EMA VDH/GSMI® circuit breakers in their substations:
Two of the three largest Canadian Wind Power Projects in operation today utilize EMA VDH/GSMI® circuit breakers in their substations: The 350 MW Riviere-Du-Moulin Wind Farm in Quebec and the 299 MW Blackspring Ridge Wind Farm in Alberta.
